Road Traffic Fatality - Police can confirm the death of Ryan Furbert of Happy Valley Lane in Pembroke who died as a result of a road traffic collision this morning.

It appears that around 2:15am Friday Ryan was travelling south on Frog Lane and Montpelier Road in Devonshire, when it appears he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and collided with the on side curb.  The 42 year old man was taken to KEMH where he was pronounced dead.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who can account for the last movements of Ryan Furbert to please contact PC Delphi Burrows on 295-0011.

The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the Furbert family and this marks the 12th road traffic fatality of 2009.

Last year (2008) Bermuda had 17 road fatalities in total and at this time last year (October 16th 2008) the island had 13 fatalities.

Injury RTC

Meantime at 7:05 this morning, Police responded to a road traffic collision that took place at the junction of South Road and Middle Road in Southampton. It appears that a 46 year old man on a motorcycle travelling west and a car that was travelling in an easterly direction collided. The 46 year old man was taken to the hospital where he is being treated for non life threatening head injuries. As a result of this collision there were major delays, as that is a very busy intersection.

Serious Sexual Assault

Police responded to a report of a serious sexual assault on a female that took place on Cut Road in St. George's at 11:30pm last night. Police are taking this report seriously and we have provided additional support to the St. George's Criminal Investigation Unit with officers from the Serious Crime Unit. We are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or any suspicious vehicles in the Cut Road area between 9pm and 11:45pm last night to please contact Detective Sergeant Jason Smith on 293-2222 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
