Injury RTC - Around 8pm on Friday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Dundonald Street and Brunswick Street in Pembroke involving a taxi and a motorcycle. It appears that the taxi was traveling west on Dundonald Street and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 20 year old Warwick man, sustained injuries to his legs and abrasions to his body. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the taxi, a 74 year old Southampton man, was not injured. Both vehicles received moderate front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Roads Policing Unit

The Roads Policing Unit is continuing their enforcement efforts for all traffic offences. In particular, officers will be focusing on vehicles carrying passengers in an unlawful manner because of the potential for serious injury, especially to children. In addition, the Roads Policing Unit will look to address the offence of vehicles taken without their owners’ consent (TWOC).

During last week (Monday, September 28th – Sunday, October 4th) there were 98 tickets issued for various offences and one individual arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Police Week 2009

The public (particularly schools and senior citizens planning to attend) is advised that in case of inclement weather for the Police Display Day tomorrow (Tuesday, October 6th) the wet weather venue will be Ruth Seaton James auditorium at CedarBridge Academy.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 10 reported burglaries. There were also 9 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 9 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 8 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
