Handbag Snatch - Around 11:30pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch. Details remain unclear; however the victim, a 29 year old U. K. woman, stated that around 11:10pm that day she was riding her rental cycle along Harbour Road when two unknown men on a motorcycle rode up beside her, took her white handbag from the rental cycle’s basket and then made good their escape. The visitor was not injured. The handbag contained a quantity of cash, a watch, two cellular phones, an I-Pod and personal items. The suspects are described as 16 – 25 years old; the pillion passenger being of small build with shoulder length hair and Asian in appearance. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the main Police number, 295-0011.

Burglary

Around 2:20am on Saturday, Police attended an alarm activation at Toxic Rose on Water Street in St. George’s and discovered the business had been burgled. Officers then spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime overnight an unknown culprit gained entry into the clothing store and stole a quantity of cash.

While attending the burglary at Toxic Rose, officers discovered that an unknown culprit had also gained entry into The English Sports Shop and removed two pairs of gloves, then attempted to gain entry into The Crown Colony Shop but was unsuccessful. In addition around 9:40am on Saturday, Police received a report of a burglary at The St. George’s Foundation where an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises overnight and stole a quantity of cash.

Inquiries into all four incidents are underway. As these premises are all located on Water Street in St. George’s, Police have not ruled out the possibility that the offences may be linked. Any witnesses or anyone with any information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Police Week 2009

Police Week 2009 is here! A reminder to the motoring public - on Monday, October 5th at 7:30am Police officers from various units and departments along with Police Cadets will be at Crow Lane, Barnes Corner, & the Flatts Inlet area promoting Police Week by greeting morning commuters. This year’s theme is “Our Youth … Our Commitment.”

We are encouraging the public to get involved with Police Week by attending any of the scheduled public events. The next public event is the always popular Police Display Day, which will take place on Tuesday, October 6th on Police Field in Prospect starting with a Seniors Tea at 11am followed by static and dynamic displays by Police specialist units from 12 noon.
