Handbag Snatch - At 9:15am on Thursday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch. The victim, a 20 year old Paget woman, stated that at 6:15am that day she was riding west on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near Dub City Variety store when an unknown man on a motorcycle grabbed her handbag and made good his escape. The Paget woman was not injured. The handbag contained a quantity of cash, a BlackBerry cellular phone and personal items. The suspect was described as a black male of slim build wearing a grey jacket, blue jeans and a helmet with a visor, riding a dark grey & silver motorcycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Burglary

Around 12:30pm on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Sound View Road, Sandys parish residence. The complainant stated that she returned home around 12:30pm and heard noises in the upper section of the dwelling. However, when she checked the area the culprit had already made good their escape. A quantity of jewelry was discovered missing. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 9:25am on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at Sung Sing Restaurant in St. George’s. The complainant stated that sometime between 10pm on Wednesday and 9:20am on Thursday an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and two cartons of Marlboro cigarettes. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 8:30am on Thursday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Lagoon Drive, Paget residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 8pm on Wednesday and 2am on Thursday an unknown culprit gained entry into their home. The culprit stole a black Apple I-Phone, a BlackBerry cellular phone and a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to remind the public to securely lock their homes, including all windows and doors, before leaving their premises unattended for any length of time - as well as before retiring for the night; as criminals continue to take advantage of insecure properties in some instances. Residents should report any suspicious individuals or activity in their neighbourhoods to Police on 295-0011.
