Arrest - Around 12 noon today, Police were on mobile patrol in the area of Cedar Avenue and Marsh Folly Road/Palmetto Road in Pembroke when officers observed a man on a motorcycle riding in an erratic manner. Officers followed the individual and a pursuit ensued. The individual then led officers on a chase through western Pembroke. After that, the individual went to St. John’s Hill Road where he eventually abandoned his vehicle and made his way into a residence on Hill Crescent. Officers maintained observation of the residence, which the 25 year old Pembroke man subsequently exited. He was promptly arrested. The Pembroke man was also in possession of a quantity of what is believed to be an illegal substance. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Vehicle Fire

Around 10:50pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a vehicle fire on St. Monica’s Road in Pembroke. It was discovered that a motorcycle was ablaze in a vacant lot. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene and quickly extinguished the fire. The motorcycle, which may have been stolen, was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident as well as an investigation into the cause of the fire are underway.

Advisory – Fraudulent E-mail

The Bermuda Police Service Fraud Unit is aware of a fraudulent e-mail which is currently being circulated throughout the island. The alleged sender of the e-mail claims to be an insurance broker from London, U. K. who needs the recipient’s help to recover a large amount of money. Once again, the Fraud Unit is reminding the public that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! Furthermore, members of the public are urged not to give out their banking details or personal information to anyone they do not know, especially over the internet.
