Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Theft

At 3:50am today, Police received a report of a theft from an unattended vehicle. The complainant stated that she awoke after hearing noises outside and discovered an unknown man exiting her car, which was parked outside her Church Lane, Pembroke home. She confronted the suspect who attempted to flee the scene on foot; however, the 48 year old Devonshire man was arrested by Police as he did so. A black I-Pod video, a Nike watch and a quantity of cash taken from the vehicle were recovered. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC

At 4:05pm on Monday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision on Palmetto Road in Devonshire near the junction with Roberts Avenue. It appears that a van was traveling east on Palmetto Road when a school boy attempted to cross the road. As a result the driver of the van, a 52 year old Hamilton parish man, brought the vehicle to an abrupt stop. Despite this, the van still struck the 6 year old boy. An auxiliary cycle traveling in the same direction behind the van was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the van. The pedestrian was taken to KEMH by his mother and was treated for a bruised left wrist. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 17 year old woman, was not injured; the driver of the van was also uninjured. The van received relatively minor damage while the auxiliary cycle received moderate front end damage.

Around 7:30pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision on Orange Valley Road in Devonshire near the junction with Jubilee Road. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling north on Orange Valley Road when the rider, a 22 year old Devonshire man, lost control and fell to the road. The Devonshire man sustained facial injuries, lacerations to his knees & elbows as well as abrasions to his abdomen. He is believed to have attended KEMH for treatment of his injuries. The motorcycle received front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
