Robbery - Around 2:45am on Sunday, Police received a report of a robbery on Richmond Road in Pembroke. It appears that around 2am that day the victim, a 45 year old Pembroke man, was walking from Robin Hood Pub & Restaurant when three unknown men attacked him from behind and forced him on to the nearby AIG property. The suspects then made good their escape with the victim’s wallet containing a quantity of cash and personal items. The Pembroke man sustained facial injuries; however, he declined medical attention. The suspects are believed to be three young black males. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Vehicle Fire

Around 4:35am on Sunday, Police received a report of a vehicle fire on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. On arrival a motorcycle was observed ablaze. The fire was extinguished by the attending Police officers. The motorcycle received extensive damage to its seat, sides and rear tyre. Another motorcycle parked nearby also received damage to its right side due to the blaze. Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel also attended the scene and ensured the fire was extinguished. Inquiries into this incident as well as an investigation into the cause of the fire are underway.

Burglary

Around 3:20am today, Police received a report of a burglary at a Clarke’s Lane, Pembroke residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 1am and 3:15am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry, food items and the complainants’ car, a white Suzuki Ignis license #39711. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of a white Suzuki Ignis license #39711 is encouraged to call the main Police number, 295-0011.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 4 reported burglaries. There were also 5 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 2 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 1 vehicle reported taken without its owner’s consent.

On Friday night Police received specific information that there was the potential for gun activity in the western parishes of Bermuda – specifically at events in Southampton and Paget. As a result, Police invoked section 315F of the Criminal Code and 54 people were stopped or searched with seven individuals arrested for drugs and or warrants. On Saturday there was also specific information that violence would take place at an event in St. George’s and Police once again enacted section 315F of the Criminal Code. One man was arrested for drugs and one man was arrested for possessing a bladed article. We would like to thank members of the public for working with the Police and giving us critical information. We can only effectively Police our island when the community takes an active role in the partnership.
