Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 26 year old Pedro Rodrigues of Hamilton parish. Mr. Rodrigues, originally from the Azores, worked for a local landscaping company and was found in an unresponsive state by co-workers at a Town Hill Road, Smith’s parish residence around 9am Wednesday. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician. Inquiries are ongoing; however foul play is not suspected. It is anticipated that an autopsy will be performed in due course. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

Burglary

Around 2:10am today, Police attended a reported burglary at an Elizabeth Hills Road, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that earlier he heard noises in his home and went to investigate, discovering an unknown man inside the residence. The Pembroke resident confronted the intruder, who made good his escape on foot. It does not appear that anything was taken. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall weighing around 100 kg and wearing a light coloured top. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011. Subsequent checks by the attending officers in the neighbourhood revealed other offences committed in the vicinity (outlined below).

Willful Damage/Theft

Around 3am today, Police received a report of willful damage/theft involving two vehicles on Elizabeth Hills Road in Pembroke. It appears that sometime between 9:30pm on Wednesday and 3am on Thursday an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into a car and van parked in the area. A quantity of tools was stolen from the van; it is unclear what if anything was stolen from the car. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

TWOC

Around 3:20am today, Police received a report of a removed vehicle. The complainant stated that sometime between 12:20am and 3:20am Thursday, an unknown culprit stole a white ‘Department of Airport Operations’ van license # L 2427 which was parked outside his Elizabeth Hills Road, Pembroke residence. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information on the whereabouts of a white ‘Department of Airport Operations’ van license # L 2427 to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
