Injury RTC - Around 9am on Sunday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Store Hill. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on North Shore Road when the rider, a 32 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with a bus stop pole. He sustained neck injuries as well as lacerations to both knees and elbows. The Pembroke man was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and has since been flown overseas for further medical treatment. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 9:20pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Gilbert Lane involving a Police vehicle and a motorcycle. It appears that the unmarked Police car was traveling west on Somerset Road and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 34 year old Sandys parish man, sustained injuries to his torso, left arm and left leg. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The officer driving the Police vehicle was not injured. The Police car received front end damage. The motorcycle was also damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Burglary

Around 9:30pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Malva Lane, Sandys parish residence. On arrival Police spoke with the complaint who stated that between 11pm on Saturday and sometime on Sunday, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a 36” Samsung flat screen TV. Inquires into this incident are underway.

Advisory – Parking Around Public Docks

The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the motoring public not to block access to public docks by parking in an obstructive manner. In the case of an emergency, it is imperative that Police, Fire & Ambulance vehicles be able to access any public dock if required. Police will be vigilant for this and any other parking offences and may ticket offenders where necessary.

Weekend Activity

Over the Cup Match holiday weekend (between 7am Wednesday, July 29th & 7am Monday, August 3rd) there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 8 reported burglaries. There were also 18 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 23 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 5 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
