The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, June 8th - Monday June 15th 2009 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 25
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 44
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 6
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 22
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: St. George’s = 2, Smith’s parish = 1, Devonshire = 2, Pembroke = 7, Paget = 5, Warwick = 2, Southampton = 1 and Sandy’s parish = 2.

The majority of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles with 1 truck also reported stolen during the period. Of the 22 vehicles reported stolen, 4 were subsequently recovered, including the truck.

Missing Juvenile - Troylene Anderson

Around 9am Friday, June 12th there was a reported sighting of ‘missing juvenile’ 16 year old Troylene Anderson at the bus terminal in the City of Hamilton. She was described as wearing a dark coloured short sleeved top, black Capri pants and sunglasses with a short hairstyle. The teenager is known to frequent the Pembroke area and is light brown skinned, 5’5” tall, weighing around 186 pounds with black hair; she also has a muffler burn on her right leg above the ankle. Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 16 year old Troylene Anderson to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.

National Heroes Day/Queen's Birthday Holiday Weekend Activity

Over the long holiday weekend (from 7am Friday, June 12th to 7am Tuesday, June 16th) there were 5 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 6 reported burglaries. There were also 18 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury, 13 damage only road traffic collisions and 12 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.

In addition there were 4 reported robberies, 1 reported disturbance and 4 reports of loud noise/loud music.

Robbery

Around 9:45pm on Monday, Police received a report of a robbery on Church Street in the City of Hamilton . The victim, a 36 year old Paget man, stated that he was walking along Church Street when he was approached by four young men who demanded cigarettes and money, which the 36 year old man gave them. The victim’s wallet was then taken before the four offenders made good their escape on foot towards Reid Street . The Paget man was not injured. Two of the suspects, a 16 year old young man from Devonshire and a 14 year old young man from Pembroke, were subsequently arrested. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

The suspects arrested in connection with this matter are also alleged to have been involved in two other robberies in the Pembroke area earlier Monday evening.
