Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 25 year old Christopher Alves of Pembroke. Around 10pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision on Knapton Hill in Smith’s parish near the junction with Spanish Heights Road. It appears that a motorcycle ridden by Mr. Alves was traveling west on Knapton Hill when it was in collision with a parked truck. Mr. Alves sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by EMTs before being rushed to KEMH via ambulance. However, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 10:20pm. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for at least an hour following the collision. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about the collision to contact PC Ian Taitt on 295-0011. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

The death of Christopher Alves marks the 9th road traffic fatality for 2009.

Injury RTC

At 5:20pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Blackwatch Pass and North Shore Road in Pembroke involving a car, an SUV and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was traveling north on Blackwatch Pass and the motorcycle was traveling west on North Shore Road when the vehicles collided at the junction. As a result the rider of the motorcycle, a 45 year old Pembroke man was thrown from the cycle, over the car and into the SUV which was stationary in the area at the time. The Pembroke man sustained a broken left leg. The driver of the car, a 67 year old Devonshire woman and the driver of the SUV, a 67 year old Smith’s parish man, were not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged; the car received extensive front end damage while the SUV received relatively minor damage to its right side. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Missing Juvenile

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 16 year old Troylene Anderson. The teenager was last seen around 10:30pm on Thursday, May 21st 2009 in the Smith’s parish area. She is described as light brown skinned, 5’5” tall of thick build weighing approximately 186 pounds with black hair. Troylene Anderson was last seen wearing black jean pants, a black hooded jacket and a pink shirt. She also has a muffler burn on her right leg above the ankle. The teenager is known to frequent the Pembroke area and has been in contact with family recently. Police are appealing for anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 16 year old Troylene Anderson to contact the Child Victims Unit on 295-0011.
