Damage Only RTC/Vehicle Fire/Impaired Driving - At 5am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Dolphin Ridge (in the vicinity of the Fairmont Southampton Resort). It appears that a car was traveling west on South Road when the driver, a 20 year old Warwick man, lost control and collided with a wall. The driver and his passenger, a 21 year old Warwick man, were not injured (though the driver suffered a nose bleed) and managed to get out of the car before it caught fire. The vehicle was extensively damaged as a result. The driver of the car was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision or anyone with any information to contact PC Valerius Jean Louis on 295-0011.
