Vehicle Fire

Around 3:25am on Sunday, Police received a report of vehicles on fire on St. Monica’s Road in Pembroke. Police officers and members of the Bermuda Fire Service (BFS) attended the scene where a car and a motorcycle were ablaze. The fires were extinguished by BFS personnel. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. An investigation into the cause of the fires is underway.

Around 5:20am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on York Street in St. George’s. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on York Street when the rider, a 28 year old St. George’s man, lost control and collided with a pole. The St. George’s man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of a fractured left leg and back injuries. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 12:40am on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and Loyal Hill Pass in Devonshire involving a motorcycle and a car. It appears that the car was traveling east on North Shore Road when the driver, a 27 year old Devonshire woman, attempted to make a right turn on to Loyal Hill Pass and the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 61 year old St. George’s man, sustained injuries to his left leg. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car was not injured. The car received extensive damage to its right side while the motorcycle received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 12:40pm on Friday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Pembroke near the junction with Clarke’s Lane. It appears that a garbage truck was stationary in the westbound lane and a motorcycle was traveling east in the eastbound lane. The victim, a 54 year old Hamilton parish man, was working behind the garbage truck and was struck by the motorcycle as he went to collect trash from the opposite side of the road. He sustained fractured ribs, abrasions to his head, bruising to his right shoulder and an ankle injury. The Hamilton parish man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The rider of the motorcycle, a 19 year old St. George’s man, sustained abrasions to his left hand. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
