Injury RTC - Around 10:20pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Paget near the junction with Southcote Road involving two auxiliary cycles. It appears that the auxiliary cycles were traveling in opposite directions on South Road when they collided. The rider of the eastbound cycle, a 24 year old Sandy’s parish woman, sustained abrasions to both knees while the rider of the westbound cycle, a 16 year old young man from Warwick, sustained abrasions to both knees and arms. Both cycles received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Robbery

At 3:20pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported robbery at the junction of Palmetto Road and Parsons Lane in Devonshire. On arrival officers spoke with a taxi driver who stated that earlier he picked up five individuals in the Hermitage Road area. The passengers stated that they wanted to be taken to Cedar Park Road. During the journey a struggle ensued with the driver and two of the male passengers. During the struggle one of the suspects took the taxi driver’s wallet containing a quantity of cash and then all five individuals fled the scene on foot. A 22 year old Smith’s parish man was subsequently arrested in connection with this incident. The victim attended KEMH where he received treatment for relatively minor injuries and was released. Inquiries are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Weekend Activity

Over the Easter weekend (7am Thursday, April 9th – 7am Monday, April 13th) there were 6 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 5 reported burglaries. There were also 20 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 9 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 10 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
