Update - Fire/Sudden Death

Following an autopsy by an overseas forensic pathologist, the Bermuda Police Service can confirm that the death of an individual discovered inside a derelict Washington Street North, Pembroke residence that caught fire early Monday morning is being treated as suspicious.

Police can also confirm that the deceased individual is not missing French national 30 year old Mehdi David Yahi or missing local teenager Travis Malcolm Lowe; however Police are unable to confirm if the deceased individual is missing 55 year old St. Claire McDonald Augustus, who was last seen over a month ago.

Inquiries are continuing to establish the identity of the deceased by a team of investigators from the Serious Crime Unit led by Acting Chief Inspector Jerome Laws and Inspector Steven Lightbourne.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have attended the scene prior to the Bermuda Police Service and Bermuda Fire Service; or who may have been in the area of Washington Street North in the early hours of Monday, April 6th; or who may have been at the scene while the fire was being extinguished.
