Fire/Sudden Death - At 4:05am today, Police attended a reported fire at a Washington Street North, Pembroke residence. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene and extinguished the fire, at which time the body of a deceased individual was discovered inside the derelict premises. The individual was pronounced dead at 7:25am today by an on call physician at the scene. Foul play has not been ruled out. An active investigation into this incident is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact Acting Inspector Kevin Christopher on 295-0011. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified. An overseas forensic pathologist is expected to arrive on island in due course to assist with this investigation.

Update - Fatal RTC 

An overseas forensic pathologist is expected to arrive on island in due course to assist in identifying the victim of Sunday’s fatal road traffic collision to ensure a proper identification is made. The Bermuda Police Service has been in contact with the family of the alleged victim and they are aware. The investigation into the fatal collision is ongoing. Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact Sergeant Derricka Brangman at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 4 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 9 reported burglaries. There were also 19 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 8 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 5 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
