Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 2:15am on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on The Lane in Paget near the junction with Pomander Road. It appears that a car was traveling east on The Lane when the driver lost control and collided with a wall. Apparently the driver, a 23 year old Pembroke woman and the vehicle’s three passengers all received relatively minor injuries; they were taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The car received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Vehicle Fire

Around 1:20am on Sunday, Police on mobile patrol observed a vehicle on fire on Southside Road in St. George’s. The unoccupied parked car, a red MG Rover hatchback, was engulfed in flames. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service attended a short time later and quickly extinguished the blaze. The vehicle was extensively damaged; however, there were no injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Arson has not been ruled out. Police are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 2 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 3 reported burglaries. There were also 13 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 6 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
