Search for Omari Gordon Continues

Mon, 2008-12-01

There are a large number of Police officers actively working on this incident, in which the suspect used an alleged firearm to shoot at uniformed Police officers during the early morning hours of Saturday before making good his escape.

Around 2:55am on Saturday, November 29 uniformed patrol officers were on duty in the City of Hamilton area. At that time they noticed the suspect riding a motorcycle in the city area. They attempted to stop him in relation to a minor traffic offence; however, the 26 year old declined to stop, leading Police into the Middletown area where he attempted to make good his escape at high speed.

But the suspect fell off his motorcycle and ran off on foot, pursued by the Police officers who were also on foot. He then turned to face the officers and fired one shot with what is believed to be a firearm in their direction, before making good his escape.

As a result of Police investigations into this matter, we are now able to identify Mr. Omari Gordon as the suspect.

We are currently looking for Mr. Gordon and are appealing for members of the public to assist us in locating him. In particular, we are appealing to his friends and family to encourage Mr. Gordon to turn himself in. We are fairly certain he is aware that we are trying to locate him by using specially trained officers from the Emergency Response Team. These officers are authorized to carry firearms.

Therefore in the interest of his safety, the safety of the community and the safety of the Police, we are encouraging Mr. Gordon to turn himself in to Police peacefully and without incident.
