Robbery

At 5:35pm on Tuesday, Police were on foot patrol in the Court Street, Pembroke area when they were alerted to a robbery in progress on Dundonald Street. On arrival at a beauty salon on Dundonald Street, officers spoke with staff who stated that just prior to Police arrival, two men entered the store. One of the men grabbed the cashiers draw which contained a quantity of cash and made good his escape on foot. Staff members managed to restrain the second suspect, a 30 year old Pembroke man, until Police arrival. He was arrested at the scene, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. Following further inquiries the first suspect, a 29 year old Devonshire man, was located at a Court Street, Pembroke residence. He was subsequently arrested, taken to Hamilton Police Station and detained. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Burglary

At 7:50pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Mullet Bay Road, St. George's residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:45am and 6:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 5:40pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Bluff Lane, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:40am and 4:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a grey Pioneer DVD player, a portable DVD player, a quantity of jewelry and DVDs. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Traffic Checks

Officers with the Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted laser speed checks in the eastern parishes between 7:15am and 9am on Tuesday, March 27, 2007. As a result, there were 45 tickets issued; the highest speed ticketed was 86 km/h. 11 tickets were issued for speeds under 60 km/h, while other tickets were issued for violations such as no driver's license etc.
