Around 11:25pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury on Mangrove Bay Road in Sandys parish near the junction with East Shore Road involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on Mangrove Bay Road and the car was exiting the Somerset Country Squire when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 21 year old St. Georges woman, sustained injuries to her right arm and left leg while the cycles passenger, a 23 year old Sandys parish man, sustained serious head injuries. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and is currently in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The driver of the car, an 18 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and taken to Hamilton Police Station, where he passed the alco-analyser test. He was then released. The car involved in the collision received extensive front end damage while the motorcycle was extensively damaged; also, a car which was parked in a bus lay-by on the north side of Mangrove Bay Road received moderate damage. Traffic was diverted away from the area for approximately an hour. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Melesia Iris at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Burglary

Around 8:15pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Bobs Valley Lane, Sandys parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 9am and 8pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 7:30pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Bay View Drive, Hamilton parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 7:45am and 6pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a black 27" RCA TV, a silver/grey Apex DVD player and a gold Scottish thistle pendant. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 6:45pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Woodlands Road, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 9:45am and 4:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a silver Sony 42" flat screen TV and a black Panasonic DVD player. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
