Robbery

Around 12:50 this morning, Police attended a reported robbery on Pennos Drive in St. Georges. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 24 year old American man, who is a visitor to the island. He stated that around 12:30am he was walking along Pennos Drive when he encountered three unknown men who attempted to befriend him. The visitor became suspicious of their behaviour and ran off; however, the men chased after the 24 year old American and assaulted him before taking his wallet containing a quantity of cash and personal items, a Discman and a gold chain with a cross pendant. The suspects then made good their escape. The victim sustained a bruised right cheek and an abrasion to his right elbow. The suspects are described as a light brown skinned male of medium build with a round face and short dark hair wearing a red shirt; a light skinned male of slim build riding a black auxiliary cycle or motorcycle; and a dark skinned male of slim build. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.
