Burglary

At 6:20 this morning, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sandys parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. They stated that around 6am they awoke to find an unknown man lying on the floor of their room. The family confronted the man, who ran out of the room and jumped over a balcony. The suspect was then confronted by a security guard and attempted to make good his escape by jumping overboard and swimming away. However, Marine Police attended the area a short time later and located the suspect in the water. He refused to comply with officers instructions to get in the boat, but was eventually pulled aboard. Once on the Police vessel, a violent struggle ensued and Captor had to be deployed. The suspect, a 35 year old Sandys parish man, was eventually subdued, arrested and taken to Somerset Police Station where he was detained. Nothing was reported taken from the visitors room. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 11:50am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sandys parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who is a visitor to the island. He stated that sometime between 11pm on Monday and 5am on Tuesday, an unknown culprit gained entry into his room. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
