Burglary

At 11:10pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sandys parish guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. They stated that sometime between 8:50pm and 10:15pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their room while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a turquoise coloured I-Pod, a Motorola cellular phone, a quantity of jewelry and a quantity of personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 10:10pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported burglary at an East Shore Road, Sandys parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 7:15am and 6:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry and cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Attempted Handbag Snatch

Around 10:45pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of an attempted handbag snatch outside the Somerset Laundromat on Somerset Road in Sandys parish. The victim, an employee at the laundromat, stated that she locked up the business around 10:10pm that day and was waiting outside for a taxi when two unknown men on a motorcycle rode towards her. One of the men got off the cycle and approached her, claiming his laundry was still inside the premises. At that moment the taxi arrived and she told the suspect that there was no laundry left in the building when she secured it. As she went to get into the taxi, the suspect grabbed her handbag and a brief struggle ensued; however, the victim managed to hold on to the bag and the suspect jumped on the back of the motorcycle he arrived on and left empty handed. The victim was not injured. The main suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately 5 10 tall with a long narrow face wearing a shirt, shorts and a black helmet with a dark coloured visor. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Update - Filming for Video Identification

The Bermuda Police Service is very pleased with the response to our appeal for volunteers willing to be filmed for the new video identification database. On Wednesday, 150 people were filmed and therefore todays filming, which was originally scheduled to finish at 6pm, will now finish at 4pm. The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their co-operation and assistance in this initiative.
