Death of Diver

Police can now confirm the death of 58 year old Patricia Steinhoff of Wreck Road in Sandys parish who died as a result of a marine incident.It appears that on Monday at 4:15pm, 4 scuba divers boarded a vessel and traveled approximately 2 miles out to the South West Breakers to go scuba diving around the reefs. Around 5:35pm the divers surfaced only to discover that somehow their boat had broken from its anchoring and drifted away from its original location. The group decided to swim back to shore; however the 58 year old Sandys parish woman ran into difficulty.She was aided by the other 3 divers who managed to make their way back to shore a few minutes before 6pm. The divers then managed to summon a resident who lived on the property near the shoreline who subsequently called 911. The paramedics arrived shortly after and attempted to resuscitate Mrs. Steinhoff, but she was later pronounced dead at 6:45pmat the scene.

Burglary

Meantime, at 9:40pm on Monday, Police attended a case of burglary at a Jennings Road, Smiths parish residence. The complainants state that they left the residence at 8:15am and upon their return at 8:45pm they noticed that someone had gained entry into their home. It appears that the culprit gained entry into the dwelling by removing the air conditioner. Once inside, the thief stole an undisclosed amount of cash, a pair of gold cuff links with the initials J.H.C. inscribed on them and a gold tie-pin in the shape of a Bermuda onion. Inquires into this incident are underway.
