Assault

Around 3:20 this morning, a 23 year old man received multiple fractures to his face after being assaulted outside of Cafe Cairo on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that the victim was standing on Front Street when a male approached him and made a request for a cigarette. When the 23 year old replied he did not have one, the suspect approached him from behind and punched him in the face, resulting in his nose being fractured and his mouth swollen.The victim then fell on his face and received further injuries. While the 23 year old was on the ground, the suspect kicked the victim about the body. The suspect then made good his escape.However, a few minutes after that a male was arrested on Court Street in connection with the attack. The victim is presently at KEMH being treated for his injuries.

Disturbance

Police responded to a report of a disturbance on North Shore Road in Pembroke.It appears that at 12:30 yesterday morning, the complainant and his son were driving home when they were chased by a group of baseball and machete wielding males, who chopped at the occupants of the truck and also vandalized the vehicle. The drivers son then arrived home and noticed that he had lacerations to his forehead, right hand and left elbow; however, these injuries were described as superficial and did not require hospital attention. Inquiries into this incident are underway and anyone with any information is asked to contact Police on 295-0011.
