Handbag Snatch

Around 6:35pm on Monday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch. The victims, who are visitors to the island, stated that around 5:15pm that day they were on a rental cycle traveling west on Kindley Field Road in St. Georges when two unknown men on a motorcycle rode alongside them. They slowed down and allowed the suspects motorcycle to pass; however, the suspects then pulled into a bus lay by. The visitors continued traveling in a westerly direction when the suspects again rode up beside them; this time the pillion passenger snatched a pink knapsack from the rental cycles basket. The suspects then made good their escape at speed towards the Causeway. The knapsack contained a BlackBerry cellular phone and personal items. The suspects are described as two men believed to be in their late teens or early 20s; both were wearing helmets without visors and believed to be traveling on a Yamaha or Suzuki motorcycle. The rider was described as light skinned, while the passenger is believed to have been wearing blue shorts and a dark coloured polo shirt with horizontal stripes. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. Georges Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Burglary

Around 7:10pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a North Shore Road, Smiths parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8am and 6:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole an Averatec laptop computer and a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 6:55pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Hibiscus Lane, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 8:20am and 6:10pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and a video I-Pod in a brown leather case. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 4:35pm on Monday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sound View Road, Sandys parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between Tuesday, July 31 and 4pm on Monday, August 13 an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into their home while they were overseas. The culprit(s) stole a quantity of cash & jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
