Around 9pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Lighthouse Road involving a jeep and a motorcycle. It appears that the jeep was traveling east on Middle Road when the driver, a 37 year old Southampton man lost control of the vehicle, striking a wall before colliding with the motorcycle, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The jeep ended up on its side as a result. The rider of the motorcycle, a 37 year old St. Georges man, sustained serious abdominal injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in satisfactory condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The Southampton man sustained abrasions to his right elbow, but refused medical attention. However, he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact Sergeant Joel Braithwaite at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010 or the main Police number, 295-0011.

Burglary

At 10:25pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Palm Lane, Devonshire residence. The complainants stated that sometime between 6:30pm and 9:50pm that day, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into their home while it was unoccupied. The culprit(s) stole an I-Pod, a BlackBerry cellular phone, a silver Sony digital camera and a JVC digital video camera as well as a quantity of jewelry and cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 4:20pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at an Industrial Park Road, Southampton residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 7am and 4pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his apartment while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a gold ring, a gold bracelet and a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 1:30pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Crane Lane, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 11am on Sunday, August 5 and 12 noon on Tuesday, August 14 an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while he was overseas. The culprit stole a silver bracelet, a silver chain, a 20” flat screen TV and a quantity of coins. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
