Handbag Snatch

At 6:45pm on Friday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch at the Heron Bay Marketplace in Southampton. On arrival officers spoke with the victim, a 51 year old Sandys parish woman, who stated that around 6:30pm she was placing groceries into the rear of her car when an unknown man on a cycle rode up from behind and grabbed her handbag out of the shopping cart. The suspect then exited the parking lot and made good his escape traveling east on Middle Road. The Sandys parish woman was not injured. The handbag contained a quantity of cash, a cellular phone and personal items. The suspect is described as a brown skinned male wearing a half face helmet, a puffy blue jacket with white sleeves and long dark coloured pants riding an auxiliary cycle. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
