Injury RTC

At 10:35pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Horseshoe Road, involving a van and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on South Road when the rider, a 33 year old Southampton man, lost control and collided with the sidewalk. The cycle then slid across the road into the path of the van, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The Southampton man ended up on the sidewalk with the cycle; he sustained a fractured right ankle, bruised nose and abrasions to his hands, hips and lower extremities. The cycles passenger, a 26 year old Paget man, ended up under the front passenger side of the van; he sustained broken ribs, a broken right leg, a broken pelvis and punctured lungs. Both men were taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. At this stage the Paget mans injuries are not believed to be life threatening and at last check he was in stable condition. The driver of the van, a 30 year old Southampton woman, was not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged while the van received front end damage. The rider of the motorcycle was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Burglary

Around 6:55am on Sunday, Police attended a reported burglary at the Bermuda Arts & Fitness Academy in Paget. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime earlier that morning an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises and stole a ceremonial samurai sword. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 10 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 14 reported burglaries. There were also 16 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 7 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 5 vehicles reported taken without their owners consent.
