Attempted Robbery

At 8:30pm on Saturday, Police received a report of an attempted robbery. The victims, a 72 year old Devonshire man and a 71 year old Devonshire woman, stated that around 7:30pm that day they were in their car and about to leave their Kilderry Lane, Devonshire residence when an unknown man rode into the driveway. The suspect approached the drivers side of the car and demanded money, brandishing a tool. A struggle ensued between the suspect and the 72 year old Devonshire man, during which the suspect also produced a bladed article. The couple managed to get out of their car and ran to Middle Road where a passing motorist was flagged down and Police were called. The suspect made good his escape on a black scooter type cycle and is described as a black male, approximately 54” tall of heavy build wearing a black puffy jacket with white lettering and a black helmet. He is believed to be 25 to 30 years old and may also have a scar on the left side of his face. The victims were not injured, nor was anything taken during the incident. Inquiries are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the St. Georges Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Robbery

In a separate but possibly linked incident, a robbery took place at Hill View Video & Variety in Smiths parish around 7:45pm Saturday where a similarly described suspect stole a quantity of cash from the premises while brandishing a tool. The store clerk was not injured and inquiries into this incident are also underway by the St. Georges Criminal Investigation Unit.

Theft

At 6:40pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a theft from an unattended vehicle. The complainant stated that sometime between 9:15am and 6:15pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his car while it was parked at Bulls Head Car Park. The culprit stole a quantity of cash and a portable MP3 player. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

This was one of a few reports of thefts from unattended cars parked at Bulls Head Car Park on Saturday where, in some cases, cash and personal items were stolen. Inquiries into these incidents are also underway.
