Injury RTC/Impaired Driving

Around 1:25 this morning, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Tribe Road #2 involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was traveling west on North Shore Road and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the cycle, a 23 year old Hamilton parish man, sustained a laceration to his lip. The driver of the car, a 30 year old Pembroke man, was not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged while the car received extensive front end damage. Both men appeared to be intoxicated at the scene and as a result they were subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The rider of the motorcycle was released after passing the alco-analyser test; however, the driver of the car was detained at Hamilton Police Station after he failed. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Burglary
Around 4:50pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 2pm and 4:45pm that day, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit(s) stole a 32” Sony TV, a PlayStation 3 video game system, a quantity of DVDs and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Weekend Activity
Over the weekend there were 4 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 9 reported burglaries. There were also 17 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 5 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
