Around 1:15 this morning, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke involving an SUV and a car. It appears that the car was traveling west on Marsh Folly Road and the SUV was traveling in the opposite direction when the driver of the SUV, a 19 year old St. George’s man, lost control and the vehicles collided. As a result the St. George’s man complained of pain to his neck and numbness in his hands. The driver of the car, a 34 year old Devonshire woman, was not injured. Both vehicles received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Handbag Snatch

Around 9pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported handbag snatch on South Road in Paget near the Modern Mart supermarket. The victims, a 50 year old Massachusetts woman and her husband, a 50 year old Massachusetts man who are visitors to the island stated that they were riding their rental cycle east on South Road when an unknown man on a motorcycle stole the female visitor’s handbag from their cycle’s basket, where it had been secured with a bungee cord. The suspect, described as a black male wearing a white T-shirt and a white helmet then made good his escape down St. Paul’s Lane and on to Middle Road, despite the visitors giving chase. The Massachusetts couple were not injured. The handbag is described as beige with white straps and contained a quantity of cash, a silver Canon camera and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
