Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service has noticed a recent increase in the theft of laptop computers. We are advising the public to store their laptops in a secure place when not in use and not to leave them out in the open in public, in an unattended home or in an unattended vehicle. Also, members of the public are reminded to note the serial numbers of their laptop so that in the event it is stolen and later recovered, it can be positively identified.

The Bermuda Police Service is also aware of individuals defacing gnomes around the island by spray painting them with stenciled letters. We are asking for those involved in this recent trend to cease and desist. Anyone found committing such acts will be arrested for willful damage.

Halloween is one week away and the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind all shopkeepers to be vigilant for individuals trying to buy eggs in large quantities, particularly children & teenagers. We are asking merchants to use their discretion.

Police will also be vigilant over the next week for any individuals who may indulge in pre-Halloween anti-social behaviour. Policing for Halloween itself will be addressed at a press conference on Thursday, October 30th in the Police Media Relations office, Prospect Devonshire. All media are encouraged to attend.
