Marine Advisory

The Marine Police are once again urging boat operators to use care and caution whilst operating power crafts in and around areas known to support marine turtle populations. We have received yet another report of a dead turtle, making this the third one in less than a month. Most of the dead turtles found have propeller slashes on their shells and were discovered in and around the Paradise Lakes area; however, this latest one was found floating near Darrell’s Island. Many areas have signs posted warning of a turtle population. All boaters are therefore asked go slow, keep a sharp lookout for any semi-submerged turtles and avoid getting too close to these sea creatures wherever possible.
