Fatal RTC

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 40 year old Tennison Fernando of Southampton. Around 1:20pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Dolphin Ridge involving two motorcycles. It appears that one motorcycle was traveling east on South Road and the other motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the rider of the eastbound cycle (Mr. Fernando) lost control attempting to negotiate a sharp left hand bend. As a result the Southampton man fell to the ground and slid into the westbound lane, where he was struck by the westbound cycle. The victim was rushed to KEMH via ambulance with serious head injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead at 4am on Monday by an on call physician at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. The rider of the westbound cycle, a 29 year old Warwick woman and her female pillion passenger were not injured. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.

The death of Tennison Fernando marks the 13th road fatality for 2008.
