Fatal RTC

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 19 year old Machai Campbell of Pembroke. Mr. Campbell sustained serious injuries in a road traffic collision on Cavendish Road in Pembroke near the junction with Hibiscus Lane around 12:45pm on Tuesday. He was rushed to KEMH via ambulance but was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at the hospital. The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to formally convey our sincere sympathies to former PC Wayne Campbell and his family on the loss of Machai. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family & the friends of Machai at this difficult time.

The other motorcyclist involved in the collision, a 31 year old Paget man, was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of injuries to his right hand and body. He was subsequently released. A third motorist, a 17 year old Southampton man, was riding an auxiliary cycle and was indirectly involved in the collision. He received abrasions to his left foot as a result; however, the Southampton man declined medical attention for his injury. Both motorcycles involved in the collision were extensively damaged while the auxiliary cycle received relatively minor damage. Both motorcycles involved in the collision were impounded by Police. The investigation into this collision is ongoing by PC Rawle Massiah.

Robbery

At 7:55pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported robbery on Radnor Estate Road in Hamilton parish, near the junction with Radnor Drive. The victim, a 16 year old young man from Hamilton parish, stated that sometime between 7:30pm and 7:45pm that day he was walking along Radnor Estate Road when he was approached by two unknown young men on an orange motorcycle. The suspects spoke briefly to the victim and rode off; but returned shortly thereafter and accosted the Hamilton parish teenager. The suspects took a quantity of cash from the victim and then made good their escape on the motorcycle heading towards North Shore Road. The victim was not injured. The suspects are described as two males in their late teens or early 20s, approximately 5’9” tall of slim to medium build, wearing dark clothing. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit on 293-2222.

Damage Only RTC

Around 1:30pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Somerset Road in Sandy’s parish, near the junction with Sound View Road. It appears that a car was traveling west on Somerset Road when the driver, a 77 year old Warwick woman, lost control and collided with a wall, causing the vehicle to overturn. The Warwick woman was not injured; however she was taken to KEMH as a precaution and subsequently released. The car received extensive damage to its right side, as well as damage to its left front wheel. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

All incidents are under investigation.
