Roads Policing Unit Statistics

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and those traveling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

During the week of Monday, December 22nd – Monday, December 29th 2008 there were:

  • Reported Injury Collisions = 12
  • Reported Damage Only Collisions = 29
  • Arrests on Suspicion of Impaired Driving = 13
  • Vehicles Reported Taken Without Their Owners’ Consent = 9
  • Number of vehicles reported stolen by parish: Pembroke = 7, Paget = 1 and Sandy’s parish = 1.

The majority of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles, with 1 car also reported stolen during the period. Of the 9 vehicles reported stolen 2 were subsequently recovered.

TWOC

Around 10:30am on Sunday, Police received a report of a vehicle taken without its owner’s consent. The complainant stated that the car, a silver Suzuki ‘Baleno’ station wagon license #32775, was removed sometime between 3am and 10am that day from the Number 1 Shed parking lot on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of this silver Suzuki car, license #32775, is encouraged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

Injury RTC
Around 5:45pm on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Parsons Lane & Barkers Hill in Devonshire. It appears that a car was traveling east on Parsons Lane when the driver, a 57 year old Devonshire man, lost control at the junction and collided with a wall. The Devonshire man sustained abrasions to his forehead. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and subsequently released. The car received extensive front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
