Disturbance

Around 2 this morning, Police attended a reported disturbance on St. Monica’s Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the two victims and witnesses in the area. It appears that the suspect, a 22 year old Warwick man, was walking through the area when he approached a car parked outside a St. Monica’s Road residence. The suspect reached inside the car and snatched a gold chain and pendant from around the neck of one of the occupants, a 55 year old Pembroke man. A brief struggle ensued between the two men, before the suspect approached a 33 year old Pembroke woman and kicked her in the side. The suspect then picked up a blunt object and used it to damage the car’s front windshield and rear windows. At this point several area residents got involved and the suspect attempted to make good his escape on foot towards Friswells Hill. He was seen by Police attempting to flee and arrested. The gold chain and pendant were recovered. The blunt object was also seized by Police. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 7pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported disturbance at the St. David’s Cricket Club. It appears that the victim, a 39 year old Smith’s parish man, was involved in a verbal dispute with another man who punched the Smith’s parish man in the face. The victim was treated at the scene for an injury to his nose and then taken to KEMH via ambulance for further treatment. The suspect left the scene prior to Police arrival. It is unclear at this point if the victim wishes to make a formal complaint. Inquiries are ongoing.

Burglary

Around 10pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Sandy’s parish guest property. The complainants, who are visitors to the island, stated that around 9:45pm that day they returned to their apartment to discover that an unknown culprit had gained entry while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole 3 cellular phones, a Toshiba laptop computer, a video I-Pod and a JVC video camcorder. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 5:55pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8:45am and 5:30pm that day, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit(s) stole a black Toshiba flat screen TV, a white Memorex stereo, a green I-Pod Nano and a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Activity

Over the weekend there were 3 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and 11 reported burglaries. There were also 5 reported damage only road traffic collisions, 6 reported road traffic collisions resulting in injury and 7 vehicles reported taken without their owners’ consent.
