Update: Two Car Collision on North Shore Road in Smith’s Parish

Details remain limited at this time regarding the two car collision that occurred on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Jennings Road (Police Beach area) around 9:20pm Saturday, October 20th.

However, police can now confirm that the driver of one of the vehicles involved – believed to be a 33 year old Pembroke woman – was taken to hospital via ambulance for medical assessment and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Road Sobriety Checkpoints Data: Friday Night Until Sunday Morning

Road sobriety checkpoints conducted by the Roads Policing Unit from Friday night until early Saturday morning ended with 8 impaired drivers arrested. Plus one impaired driver was arrested after a serious injury collision (South Road, Warwick) and one person was arrested for having care and control of a vehicle while under the influence. Tickets were also issued for unlicensed vehicles and 9 drivers were ticketed for license plate offences.

Road sobriety checkpoints carried out Saturday night into early Sunday morning ended with 3 impaired drivers detected at checkpoints and arrested. Another driver was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving (not at a checkpoint) following a collision on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish. In addition, 3 people were arrested for warrants at checkpoints and 9 drivers were ticketed for license plate offences.

The final road sobriety checkpoints for this weekend will take place tonight (Sunday, October 21st) in Paget, Pembroke and Devonshire and members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence.
