Rental Cycle Crash in Sandys Parish [Updated]

Around 7:40pm Monday, June 12th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle rental cycle crash on Somerset Road in Sandys parish, near the junction with Cambridge Road.

It appears that the rental cycle rider, believed to be a 26 year old male guest worker, struck a wall.

He was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries and an update on his condition will be provided in due course.

Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the area while the scene was processed by the relevant police personnel.

Update: Wednesday, June 14th - At last check earlier this morning (June 14th) the man injured when the rental cycle he was riding struck a wall around 7:40pm Monday, June 12th on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Cambridge Road, had been airlifted overseas for further medical treatment.

The victim, said to be a guest worker, was initially treated in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and thought to be 26 years old.

However, he was later confirmed to be 32 years old.
