Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes – Good Morning Members of the Media.

Thank you for taking the time to come out to this press conference. It is that time of year where the Bermuda Police Service celebrates 138 years of policing in Bermuda and from Saturday, September 30th until Saturday, October 7th, there will be a number of activities planned to celebrate this milestone.

The week’s activities will begin with the Police Gymkhana. Sergeant Clifford Roberts will speak in a few minutes regarding the details.

The Police Memorial will be held on Sunday, October 1st. The memorial will commence at 5:30pm at the Police & Military Cemetery on Alexandra Road in Devonshire, followed by a sunset ceremony.

On Monday at 6:00pm, the police will host the Commissioner’s Vision Awards. This event recognizes the three top students from each school on the island – both public and private – who exemplify the highest standards.  The Vision Awards will take place at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts.

The ever-so popular Seniors’ Tea will take place at 11am on Tuesday, October 3rd at the Hamilton Princess.

On Wednesday, October 4th the Dynamic Police Displays will take place on the Police Field in Prospect… come & watch these exciting live demonstrations starting at 10:00am! All students are welcome!

Lastly, this year we are proud to announce that the Halton Regional Police Service Pipes & Drums from Ontario, Canada will be performing during the Police Week events. We are honoured to have them sharing this exciting week with us.
