Eleventh Road Fatality of 2023 [Updated]

Around 9:17pm on Friday 28 July, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious two vehicle collision, on Middle Road Warwick, near the entrance to Belmont Hills Golf Course.

Initial reports suggest that a man traveling east, attempted to overtake another vehicle, when he was involved in a collision with a motorcar traveling in the opposite direction.

The rider of the motorcycle was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, however, sadly he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the car and his passenger were conveyed to KEMH for treatment of what has been described as superficial injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.

No further information will be given until the next of kin has been informed.

Update: Monday, 31st JulyThe Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm the death of 30-year-old Raheem Burgess, Bermuda’s eleventh road fatality of 2023, and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Burgess was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on Middle Road in Warwick, near Belmont Hills Drive, around 9:17pm Friday, 28th July 2023.

Despite all lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead later that evening, Friday 28th July 2023, at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A BPS Family Liaison Officer is providing relevant support to Mr. Burgess’ family.
