Confirmed Firearm Incident: Two Men Shot in Southampton [Updated]

Around 11:13 p.m. on Sunday, August 6th, 2023, police received several reports of gunshots in the Carolina Bay, George’s Bay Road area, Southampton.

Upon the arrival of officers and other first responders at the scene, it was ascertained that two people were injured in the confirmed firearms incident.

One victim was shot in the chest, the other sustained a bullet wound to the hand.

Both victims were attended to at the scene by EMTs before being transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where at last check, they continued to receive treatment for their injuries.

An investigation into this matter has now begun and anyone with information is asked to call the main police number, 295-0011 or, the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers number, 800-8477.

Update: As the investigation continues into that confirmed firearms incident which occurred around 11:13 last evening in the Carolina Bay, George’s Bay Road area, Southampton and left two victims with gunshot wounds, police are appealing for any boat owners whose vessels are moored at the Carolina Bay Marina and have security cameras, to please check those devices for any activity recorded between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. on Sunday August 6th.

Meanwhile, at last check the 24-year-old man who was shot in the chest during that incident remains warded in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

The second victim, a 31-year-old man who was shot in the hand was attended to for his wounds and discharged from hospital.

Officers returned to the scene of last night’s shooting continuing the search for forensic evidence which may help in solving this crime, which thankfully, did not end in death.

A number of spent shells have been recovered at the scene of last night’s shooting and the matter is being progressed thanks to those members of the public who have come forward and provided what information they have.

We however continue to appeal for information as there were several people at the Marina when this incident occurred last night and we want to hear from those people.
