The Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit is once again receiving complaints from members of the public in relation to a company called ‘The Island Yellow Pages’. Recently local residents have been contacted by a representative of the Island Yellow Pages to purchase advertising space - believing that they were purchasing advertisement space in the Bermuda Yellow Pages.
However, the Island Yellow Pages are not affiliated with the Bermuda Yellow Pages in any way. They are based in the U.S. Virgin Islands and accordingly are not answerable to the laws of Bermuda.
The Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to ascertain the identity of any person or company prior to entering into any type of financial agreement with them.
