Photo of Guns & Ammunition in Engine Block Not From Bermuda

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a photo circulating on social media that shows an engine block containing a quantity of guns and ammunition.

Apparently it has been suggested that this contraband was discovered in Bermuda.

However, an online image search indicates that the photo is actually from Barbados, after authorities there reportedly seized the items at a Barbados port.

Members of the public are reminded that anyone with information regarding the location of illegal firearms or ammunition locally can contact the Serious Crime Unit in confidence on 247-1739 or the independent and anonymous Miami-based Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
