Sudden Death of American Visitor Frank D’Angelo

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 69 year old Frank D’Angelo and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. D’Angelo, said to be from California, was apparently snorkelling in a cove at Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton when he became unresponsive around 2:15pm Thursday, July 13th.

The unconscious American visitor was brought to shore by members of the public where CPR was commenced.

Lifesaving efforts continued while Mr. D’Angelo was being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but sadly, he was later pronounced dead.

A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the deceased’s family and although foul play is not suspected, an autopsy is anticipated.


All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
