Handbag Snatch

At 1:30 this morning, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on Middle Road in Sandy’s parish. The victim, a 29 year old Smith’s parish woman, stated that at 12:45am she was riding her rental cycle east on Middle Road near White Hill field. She noticed there was another motorcycle behind her, and felt her rental cycle wobble as the motorcycle behind overtook. The Smith’s parish woman then saw the rider of the overtaking motorcycle was holding her handbag, which had been in the rental cycle’s basket. The culprit made good his escape traveling east on Middle Road. The handbag is described as nylon, blue & red with a Spiderman face on it. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a silver helmet with a tinted visor, riding a small black motorcycle. He was also wearing a large baggy red & white jacket and baggy blue jeans. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Breaking & Entering

Around 9:05pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Daisyfield Drive, Sandy’s parish residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants who stated that sometime between 7:25am and 8:15pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into their home. The culprit stole a Toshiba 13” TV with a built in DVD player and approximately $15 worth of coins. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 7:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Middle Road, Southampton residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 7:25am and 6:45pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home. The culprit stole a PlayStation 2 game system, several PS2 games and DVDs. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service has noticed a recent increase in reported incidents of breaking and entering in the Paget/Warwick area. We are advising residents (in these parishes and in general) to make sure their doors and windows are secure before leaving the house, and to be vigilant for any suspicious individuals or activity in the area. Anyone observing any suspicious activity or individuals is asked to contact Police on 295-0011.
