Impaired Driving

At 8:45pm on Monday, Police received a report of impaired driving on Middle Road in Devonshire. Police on mobile patrol subsequently observed a vehicle traveling east on Middle Road near the junction with Chaingate Hill driving in an erratic manner. The vehicle was caused to stop a short time later and the driver, a 26 year old Hamilton parish man, was arrested for suspicion of impaired driving. He was taken to the Hamilton Police Station and detained after failing the alco-analyser test.

Handbag Snatch

At 4:45pm on Monday, Police received a report of a handbag snatch on South Road in Warwick. The victim, who is a visitor to the island, stated that he was riding his rental cycle east on South Road when two men on a motorcycle rode up alongside him. The passenger on the motorcycle grabbed a bag from the rental cycle's basket and then the men made good their escape. The bag contained a wallet with approximately $20 in cash and personal items. The victim was unable to get a good description of the culprits. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
