Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm that the death of 52 year old Jean-Paul Gauthier of Smith’s parish was as a result of natural causes. Around 12:10am on Monday, Mr. Gauthier was found in an unresponsive state by a member of staff in Flanagan’s Sports Bar on Front Street in the City of Hamilton and was later pronounced dead at the scene by an on-call physician. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Breaking & Entering

At 3:50 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a South Road, Warwick guest property. The complainants are visitors to the island. One of the complainants awoke around 3am to find an unknown man in their room. She confronted him, but the culprit made good his escape with three handbags containing an unknown amount of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Fire

Around 9:40am on Monday, Police attended a reported fire at a High Point Lane, Devonshire residence. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene. On arrival the upper apartment was ablaze; however, the fire was quickly brought under control by the Bermuda Fire Service. There were no reported injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Today at 1pm in the Reserve Police Headquarters in Prospect, the Bermuda Police Service will hold a press conference regarding the Cup Match holiday. In attendance will be Assistant Commissioner Carlton Adams, Roxanne Christopher of the Bermuda Road Safety Council and Neil Paynter, President of the St. George’s Cricket Club.
