Theft

At 3:25pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported theft from the Bermuda Maritime Museum in Sandy’s parish. It appears that visitors to the Maritime Museum alerted staff to certain exhibits missing from their display cases in the Treasury Room. The items are believed to have been taken sometime within the last three weeks and include a gold nugget (circa 1621), a large round gold ingot (circa 1595), and a gold chain (circa 1621).

These items are priceless and are a part of Bermuda’s history. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1-800-623-8477.

Breaking & Entering

Around 4:40pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of breaking and entering at a Granaway Lane, Southampton residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 3:15pm and 4:20pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home. The culprit stole an X-Box video game system, 2 X-Box games, a DVD player and items of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 8:20am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Paget guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, who are visitors to the island. They stated that sometime earlier that morning, an unknown culprit gained entry into their room. The culprit stole $320 in cash, a yellow Minolta underwater camera, a wrist watch and other personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
